Usually, after the first minute or so, if things are going well the nerves fade.

The only thing that works long-term to ease the fear - is to face it down. Make your mistakes, and take the good with the bad.

Stage fright never goes away entirely, but you can use the fear to help you focus and prepare.

Prep time is the key. A good friend of mine in the business when I was next up on stage ( I was noticeably nervous ) told me this : You know that you know the music - you spent all the time preparing - the show is actually the part you get to enjoy! Now go out there and enjoy yourself - I sang like I had never sung before that night

I video taped myself as often as possible an replayed and edited and redirected myself. So that when I hit that stage I was ready and not afraid at all.
Best wishes

I also joined SPEECH/DEBATE club and was forces to master that public speaking skill before I was out of highschool.

When in the college years it was real stressful, I did hypnonisis for it several time and it worked ever since.
Its been 20 yrs and I can stand in front a crowd with out any problem at all.

tequilla works in the karaoke bars. Maybe you need to become more comfortable with the songs. Its odd you have no problem acting but singing gets you. A little possitive renforcment couldn't hurt. Sing in front of a smaller group of family or friends to start.
