Right click my computer icon on screen on both computers and goto properties and computer name and make sure they are both on the same workgroup name. If not then click change and type whatever name you wish to BOTH computers (requires restart) then go to here computer and start / settings/ printers and faxes and the right click then sharing and share this printer on the network. Then on yours go to start / settings / printer faxes and then add a printer and follow the steps to set up a network printer and it should work...Thanks

Depends on what you want to do. Did you want to print while her computer is turned on or did you want to print directly to your printer without going through her computer?

If you wanted to print going through her computer, then her computer always has to be on. I'm thinking you're running on Windows XP? It'll be called Printer Sharing, or Print Sharing.

**On her computer**t'
Go to the start button, then Printers and Faxes. Once there, look for her "Default" Printer. Which should be named the same one you're using. Using the mouse, Right-Click on it and a select Properties.

Once you're in properties, go to the Sharing tab on the top. Then you should see on the bottom, (something that goes like this) "If you understand the risks of print sharing, please click here" (underlined). Click on it, and it should ask if you want to enable print sharing. Select yes or check the box. Then it should have a Field that is partially filled with either the name of the printer or a shorter version of it. Apply then Close out of properties.

**On your Computer**
Go to Start button then select Printers and Faxes again. Then you want to Add a Printer, it'll be on the left side of the window. Once that opens up, ill ask if you want to find a local printer or printer on the network that's attached to another computer. You want to select one, then next it. The voila! You should see the name of the printer and the name of the computer it's connected to. Like //nameofcomputer//printer.

Select that then add it, and make sure it becomes your Default Printer.

**Edit/Added**
If you did not want to have her computer on all the time and still print, then you want to look into getting what is called a Print Server. Many Wireless network product manufacters manufacture them. However they are costly and quite specific. Some maybe compatible with your printer but not your router and vice versa. You should do some research on the products first before you buy.

As long as two computers are networked already,

On the pc without the printer attached,
Click the "start" button
then printers and faxes
click "add a printer"
and look for the other computers printer to set as the default networked printer.....

If you dont see the printer, you may need to turn on the printer and file sharing option that was asked for when you set up the network.....

Hope this helps, email me if you need more help, click on my profile to find email link

If you are networked to her computer she can share folders and printers. XP has a "wizard" to walk you through sharing on a network. So, her computer has to be turned on. Then you will need the printer software for her computer installed on your machine to gain all the option buttons to set what page, what orientation. The printer software is either downloadable from the internet, on a printer setup CD or the Win install CD.
