You should check out the local thrift stores. They are not free but they are inexpensive. If you got one on the internet, how would you print it out without some expense.
www.freepatterns.com also has free patterns for sewing (not many) as well as crochet, knitting, etc.

I don't know about free, but if you watch the sales at Hancock Fabrics and Joann Fabrics they have Simplicity, McCall's and Butterick patterns on sale for $1 or $2 just about every other week.

You could check with your local freecycle group. http://www.freecycle.org/ I know ours has had a box of patterns circulating every once in a while. People get the box, take the patterns they want and add any they have that they're done with then pass it on.
