"Why, of course, the people don't want war. Why would some poor slob on a farm want to risk his life in a war when the best that he can get out of it is to come back to his farm in one piece. Naturally, the common people don't want war; neither in Russia nor in England nor in America, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy or a fascist dictatorship or a Parliament or a Communist dictatorship voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same way in any country."

mike, im glad you tied this to 9/11. But i think its only a small percentage of alternative theorists that believe that no planes hit the buildings.

planes hit the buildings and i believe it was our gov't.

please, mike, look at this and tell me that you are 100% sure that our gov't didn't do this.

letit,

consequences or 9/11:
Justified war in afghanistan (although bin laden is not important anymore...WTF?)
In part justified war in Iraq (the fear of terrorism)
The unconstitutional patriot act (did you know that if we have a red terror alert, the president can than suspend the constitution and declare marshall law?)

This is why the USA and other governments keep secrets and indicate that the public would support the war - "if only they knew the full truth". It is the germ of fear and the carrot of greed that propels countries to go to war. The same impulse propels evil in ordinary society. USA has a surfeit of both.

The ruling classes have always known that the more evil the culture, the more it may take advantage of the world's disorganized situation. Order is the enemy of evil, it spotlights the bully.

It is only when the common citizen joins the evil that the wayward national ship arms to the teeth and commits atrocities "war crimes".

Bush and his cadre of elite thieves have manipulated the USA to become the current global Satan.

I think it's very true. Sadly enough, that is what happens. Although, I don't think the reasons he names are the only reasons people don't like war. I know I'd be very worried about the safety of myself and my family, especially if I was related to someone in the war. Even if my family member won a purple heart, I would think that is a sad and not even close way of making up for it, especially if they died. That purple heart won't bring them back. I also can't imagine being proud of them going off to war, I would just be worried. Someone very wise once said, "War is never just". I agree 100%. I just wish human beings had a better and safer way of resolving their differences than by resorting to violence. It really doesn't solve anything, and history has proven this assertion many times over. Unfortunately, I know it's the human way.

Because, as much of a scuzzball as he was, he was 100% right. Liberals today repeat that quote to show how the current administration is manipulating public perception by doing the same thing Hitler did. They both isolated the anti-war faction by calling them unpatriotic for not supporting their country's military campaigns, and claim the pacifists are not supporting the troops by being against the war. My thinking is this-- if we aren't at war, then our troops would be here. So, by wanting our troops working in conjunction with UN Peacekeepers, instead of pounding down a revolt against our meddling in another country's growing pains, then I am supporting them. Right? "Support our Troops-- Bring them HOME!"

Here we go again, another "Bush is Hitler" conspirist. There was no reason for our government to do this, oil or otherwise. The price of oil has gone up, and opinions of Bush have gone down. Wow, that was really worth all the elaborate scheming.....would you please whine about something that actually might be true?

Again I ask: what does he stand to gain from this other than two battles that have shot his approval ratings to hell. And Presidents have always been able to declare martial law in times of emergency, tha's nothing new. Bush is not going to activate it just to stay in power: he would have already done it.

Remember his side lost and he was a closet freak too. Propaganda is just that, a way to win the mindless masses over to your cause with just enough truth to make something appear real. Look at the sites pushing the " American connection" with 911 and wanting people to believe the Government blew up the WTC and no planes crashed into it.

I am 100% sure our govt didn't do this. It would be far more difficult now than it was then with the advances in electronic comunication & the 24 hr news cycle. Also Goering had no knowledge of how democracies would respond.
