Robert de Niro by a long shot. i have never heard of the name al pacino and robert de niro has been in a lot of popular movies

It's very difficult to know who is the better actor, because I've only seen their work in film, where the director and the editor have such a powerful effect on what the audience sees of the actor's performance.
Having said this, my instinct is that De Niro may be the better actor. He has done a huge range of roles.

Robert Deniro for sure. Al Pacino is too one dimensional.

Oh, they're both stupendous.
I think I'd have to give a slight advantage to DeNiro...For the sheer variety of his work (Cape Fear AND Awakenings in the space of a year?), for his collaborations wtih Scorsese, and for his ability to dedicate himself so completely to a role.
But Pacino is also remarkable - but he is a little more one-note than DeNiro.
The one time they shared the screen in "Heat" was really an amazing display of talent!

pacino he is not afraid to play gay roles and thats a true actor to step outside yourself to become someone else
