Closest would be RC hovercraft for size, but as far as the capacity to hold someone you'd have to get up to a small one person craft and that's not very hoverboard-ish.

So, if you want 1:1 scale (like a model) an RC can be converted for show with some major work. Other than that, I'm at a loss.

In South Texas, the newest craze is Kite Surfing, Surfers get a parachute like kite and tie into it as they surf over the water being pulled by the kite. I haven't tried it, but it almost looks like they are catching air or hovering just above the water.

My mother's robot vacuum cleaner reminds me of a hover even though it goes along the floor. It's a round thing though and reminds me of a UFO hovering.

A snowboard is the CLOSEST that I can think of as far as shape, altough it doesn't hover

There's a boat that hovers, plus can work on water and change to work on land.

If you saw me air a backside 720 on my snowboard off of a sick backcountry booter, you would swear that I was hovering.
