How did the economic realities of The Depression lead to the rise of Nazi Germany?
Or - How did Hitler go from Time magazine 1933's 'Man of the Year' to a vicious dictator and mass murderer?

One of the great questions would be who really governed Nazi Germany during the Second World War?
Hitler was often busy with his generals to pay any real attention to the day to day business of governing the nation.
So who was the real power in Nazi Germany during the War?
This was a topic that Martin Kitchener looked at - but i dont think it was really answered. Was it the SS/Gestapo, the army, or was it Goebbels, or Hitler's secretay Martin Bormann?
Another question - how many Germans knew the holocaust was happening? The locations of many concentration camps in Germany, the use of forced labour - did ordinary Germans know what was happening?
Alot of focus has been on Nazism and its attacks on Europe and the question of the jews but little has been discussed about who was actually ruling Germany. And how much the German people knew about the Holocaust.

You may want to look for another topic other than the Holocaust. You can try the economical, political, or social aspects of Nazi Germany from 1933 -1939, and avoid the military (war, combat) altogether. Originality counts!

You could research how the people who refused to conform to the 'Nazi' way of life were treated. My grandmother's family refused to help the Nazis with the killing of Jews and they were also put in camps. They weren't treated as bad but there are some people who say that the Nazi's tested chemicals on them to see what effect it would have on the Jewish people.

Sure, here's one for you:
Starting with the order to terminate the Jews in the death camps in mid 1944, how many could have actually been killed in the remaining time until the end of the war if all furnaces were working at full capacity 24/7?
Bet you'll be surprised by the answer.(It's not even close to 6 million) Where do the rest of those "deaths" come from?
