Why didn't conservatives of old pass their knowledge down to this flawed clone of true conservatism?

What a great party they were until the 1970s... I mourn their passing

artichic - You can disagree with me any day and in any way as you always brighten my posts with the words you say.

True conservativee from the 40's and 50's in most cases served their country(actually fought in combat)-during WWII and Korea-they were fiscally responsible-they were liberal in the sense that they would help the poor but were not for hand outs-and they believed in the separation of church and state-they would have never given millions in "Faith Based Funding" to Churches in order to secure votes. A far-cry from the spoiled neo-cons of today.

I also long for the days of good old fashioned conservatives .
It is more like activist religious freaks have taken over .

They seem to confuse conservative religious values and outrageous spending on special interests with true conservatism .

A real conservative would roll over in his grave if he knew about the twenty post offices that got renamed each week so some politician can smack his name on a building .

I am shocked when I review the congressional record on what they have been doing .

All the pork that is attached to everything these days its amazing that anything gets done at all .

Because it seems they are succumbing to the "do whatever it takes to win" philosophy, like the democrats and republicans have. Stand up for and protect the U.S. Constitution, enforce all laws equally and fairly, and it's better to take a law off the books than have it selectively enforced. But too many enjoy the perks of selective enforcement (zoning is all about class warfare and racism, not "the health, safety and welfare of the public" they always cite). A person's moral choices, if they are in error and against God, is between them and God, not my problem, taking away my rights and freedoms, that is my problem. Signing on with a third party does little, defunding politicians, contributing only a vote, that is all they deserve or need. Our government should not be run by those who pony up the most money, because they will always figure out how to sell out to foreign intrests, which includes big corporations, the politicians will always pass "campaign finance reform" calculated to hurt the opposition party more than themselves, or let it die quietly in committee. Goldwater was right about resolving the issue in Vietnam, we wouldn't be doing this half threaten/half begging crap today.

even as i do not declare to be a Liberal or a conservative i actually imagine that Hagel isn't afraid to call a spade a spade no count number number what their political association is. I particularly could chortle at McCain who over the weekend stated that issues are going reliable in Baghdad as he strolled through an open market with his flak jacket on and became surrounded by technique of a protection stress of protection finished with Apache helicopters. threat-free my @$$!!!! i'm demanding to study more suitable of what Chuck Hagel stands for.

I think you aren't a conservative at all. I've read a lot of your answers, and you have failed the test to be a Conservative. A true Conservative, is a Reagan lover, and he wasn't president in the 70's. Richard Nixon, and Jimmy Carter were.

Government schools and teachers unions. If the liberal lie that all Conservatives are rich we wouldn't have this problem 'cause they would have gone to private schools and gotten a good education.

Oh, Chi....you know I'm going to TOTALLY disagree here. I'm a Reagan fan, but I know that doesn't surprise you at all. ;o)

But I don't much care for RINOs, honestly....but I'm just conservative - I'm not really a hard-core Republican.

Thanks, man - missed our debates. ;o)
