Yawning is a human phenomenon. It has no real bodily purpose however it does make a person relax more. The idea of it being contagious is that either someone hears a yawn or sees one and their body triggers the yearning for the relaxed feeling. So yes I believe it is.

But, I say that yawning is contagious by seeing and/or hearing a person do it, and maybe just thinking about seeing a person yawn.

Yep - but I don't think it's as contagious as seeing it and hearing it at the same time.
