4x^2 + 20x + 25

This actually factors as a perfect square:

(2x + 5)(2x + 5)

or, quite simply,

(2x + 5)^2

Since the first term is 4x squared rather than just x squared, we can guess that our factors will look like (2x + something) all squared. When we try this we find out the "something" has to be five. SO we get

4x squared + 20x + 25 = (2x + 5) squared.

To solve put (2x + 5) squared = 0.

This means that (2x + 5) = 0 SO X = -5/2. That is, x = -2.5.
