I don't have any examples of racial prejudice like that, but I do associate certain names or places with negative events in my life and consequently dislike them. Prejudice is easier to foster than people like to believe.

I agree. If someone of one race does something to me, then I look at that person in a negative way, not the entire race. I think that stereotyping and racism are things that makes a person look ignorant and in some way, inhumane.

People use their bad experiences as an excuse to hate. Because they do this, we can understand that their hatred is based on fear of a repeated experience like the one they are using as the excuse.
For instance, I know people who, when they fall from a horse, swear they will never again ride a horse. Why? Fear.
I woman I know once swallowed a sharp fishbone, and it punctured the back of her throat, causing much pain. She hasn't eaten fish since then. Why? Fear.
However, when someone steals your radio, it is unreasonable to suggest that you will never own a radio again, right? Or, if someone mugs you while you are walking down the street, you can't very well avoid walking down the street forever, can you? Because they cannot stop engaging in the activity, they project that fear into the person who attacked them, or who stole from them. They are thinking, "I can't avoid walking, but I can avoid the kind of people who attacked me. I will avoid all Orange people, because I don't want to be attacked". In this way, they spread the net of their fear far and wide, exactly like the person who avoids all fish, because the bone of one fish hurt her.
People who are "event-based" racists are often capable of changing their thinking. Sometimes, even one act of kindness delivered by a person of that race is enough to help them realize the error in their thinking. That is why it is important to not let racism change who we are as individuals. You never know when your own tolerance can lift someone from the darkness of racism.
Racism that is nurtured is much harder to change. Children inherently trust their parents, and the judgement of their parents. It is difficult to undo years of indoctrination, especially if the environment encourages and supports racist dogma. Sometimes, getting to know an individual, and understanding their own personal conflicts, opinions, and feelings, is a way to find areas in which their thinking can be changed. In my opinion, most nurtured racists would benefit from psychiatric counseling, because they are suffering from delusions manufactured by their environments.

For one, I am really getting annoyed with all the racist questions, "is this racist..." "Is that racist..." When will all this racism and stereotyping end. And to answer this question, everyone does something to offend another, its life, we all do it, but to make it into race, creed, stereotype it, whatever is wrong and entirely stupid.

just right off the top of my mind, it is human nature to try to explain why bad things happen....that's why humans blame! it's easy for one to lay blame on an entire race so that there is an explanation to go along with bad situations.
