He's a goalie isn't he? Playing in BC somewhere?

The odds are probably against it, just in the sense that the odds are against anyone who plays hockey becoming one of the 700 or so that actually make it to the most elite level of play in the world at any given time.

Kurt seems like a pretty athletic guy (if anyone saw Soldier) so the kid has genes on his side, but anyone who even makes it to junior is a hell of a player.

Being Kurt and Goldie's kid probably won't do him a whole lot of good in making the NHL. It may be a point of interest for junior or even minor teams but the NHL is too big of a business to allow nepotism or marketing gimmicks to be a major factor.

Wayne Gretzky's brothers never really got anywhere in the NHL and you can't come to the league with a much petter pedigree than that. Manon Rheaume (the first woman) never played a non-exhibition game.

Russell has a chance to make it, as much as anyone else with the skill to go as far as he has thus far, but if he does eventually step onto NHL ice, it will be from skill and hard work and not nepotism.

I saw him play against my hometown junior team. He's skates well, but he's still young so it might be a while before we see him in the NHL.
