When you claim finacial difficulty does the court listen? I thought i could spare 1 day and take a 85% pay cut thinking i got paid 5 bucks/hr for jury duty. Maybe learn something interesting; however, for 12 bucks a day - they can kiss my ***. WTF are they thinking trying to pay someone 12 a day. When lawyers ask you questions like are you an honest person, or can you decide between right and wrong - and you say no, can u get in trouble for this? Is there an alternative swear in for non-believers?

I was just talking about this yesterday with my lawyer, I was falsely arrested by a cop becasue I spoke up for myself when he was treating me badly, he then continued to show just how big and bad and above the law he was... til he found out I had a tape of him saying all this. My charges were dismissed but I did suffer alot. When I asked my lawyer about picking the jury for my civil suit he said its so hard to find a perfect jury because the smart ones are the ones that find a way out of it. For me that is dissapointing because I not only need but want and deserve a good and fair jury. If it were you and you were the one on the other side of the seat wouldnt you want a jury that was smart, fair, and willing to be there because they feel its their duty. BE FAIR CAUSE YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN YOU WILL NEED THE SERVICES OF A JURY!

Too bad, you have to go. If $5 an hour would be an 85% pay cut, you can budget better. Simple as that. Besides, it's your civic duty and you get paid as a COURTESY. If they paid you more, you would only pay more in taxes, so really you aren't getting paid. Not everyone who gets called to jury duty gets picked to be on a jury. However, you'll get arrested if you don't go.
