well, there's a couple of ways you can try out.
first, source out the best oil control facial products that suit your face. these include a cleanser, toner and moisturiser. if you're using make up, use those oil-free/for oily skin types. one small note, it was recommended that oily skin individuals should use a two way cake foundation. but from what i've heard, two way cake will result in enlarged pores as well...
second, wash your face not more than 2 times per day. over washing will dry up your skin and encourage it to produce more sebum and thus more oily skin.
well, this works for oily scalp but if it does work for scalp the same theory should work for skin as well, right? if you have to wash your face with warm water, pat your skin with cold water to close the pores so as to minimise sebum production for a longer period of time.
lastly, bring an oil blotter with you everywhere so that you can blot off the excess oils whenever you need to.

The obvious answer here is to use cleansers, astringents, lotions, and makeup for oily skin. However, if you have tried this and find it isn't working, it may be that your skin is actually so stripped of oil that it is working double time to create it, thus making your skin oily. One of the best cleansers you can use, though your face will probably feel like an oil slick after using, is cold cream. Cold cream is a thick moisturizer that also deep cleans. Smear it all over your face, leave it on for a minute, and then wipe away with a tissue or warm washcloth. It acts as a cleanser and moisturizer. Your face may be a bit greasy afterwards, but if you're staying in, it doesn't matter (and if you're going out, just use some toner or astringent after use). Because it supplants your face with so much moisture, your face will stop producing tons of oil.
PS: Doing it the old fashioned way - carrying around a powder compact for touch ups and blotting - will never go out of style.

Use the clarifying system. It has an oil control toner that is great for anyone with oily skin. You can find it at sblandino.qhealthbeauty.com

there are these really good paper thin sheets. i got mine from mary kay (i don't know how international that brand is) but i'm sure you can get them from sephora and avon. you just blot them on your face and it removes the oil at any time of the day and keeps your skin normal for a good couple of hours. i have oily skin and i live by them.

make sure that you wash your face at least two times a day, when you wake up and when you go to sleep.
if you use makeup, look for "oil free" foundations, ones with a base of water is best.
if your face gets oily in the middle of the day, i suggest that you buy Tarte's little blot book. there's is a powder that reduces shine and oil absorbing tissues in as well. you could buy is at sephora.
