No, I don't see in the Constitution where it says the government is supposed to protect people from themselves. People should be free to make stupid decisions, or they are not free at all.

It is another example of hypocrisy. On one hand, Conservative ideology stresses less goverment intervention and focus on personal responsibility. On the other hand, in practice, they want to tell you how to live your life. Instead of being smart about it, they're once again being stupid on this topic. Nobody forces anybody to gamble-- online or otherwise and it certainly is NOT a necessity in life. People will find a way to gamble if they want to. The smart way would have been to open up onshore USA based gambling, regulate it (like casinos are today) and tax it. It is ludicrious that we can have brick-and-mortal casinos, bingo halls and even state run gambling (e.g. lotteries). But online gambling is not allowed.

Well then manner in which the current U.S. ban on gambling sites was actually introduced-- it was attached to separate proposal, hidden if you will. Which shows that those who offered it up for consideration didnt do it on a straightforward appoach.

Personally, I dont see a problem in the sense that if gambling is legal here in America, then what truly is theproblem if anyone can drive down to their nearest casino or reservation and gamble.

It really doesnt make any sense.

Instead of an outright ban, congress should include means of monitoring winnings for tax purposes. Otherwise, its a complete and utter failure as a bill, because in essence youre taking away the peoples right to do somethign they can already do.

But thats this present government. A** backwards on just about everything, with no forward progress on solutions, just doing whats best for them, and not for the people.

Next election republicans will suffer dearly for everyone of their silly actions.

Absolutley not! the Government controls enough in this country.....when it controls too much of the citizens' daily lives, you're going to wind up with a Socialist state, or Communism. They have already made a mess of the public school system, & now they want to consider giving free health care to everyone, even illegal aliens..many parts of Western Europe & Canada already have a quaisi-Socialist movement in place & I can tell you, it has made these countries politically, socially & economically stagnant! Everyone is "equal" all right...the Government "provides" everything for it's people; they don't have to worry about anything past their own doorstep, nor do they care! Why should they...is that what you want to happen here...if so...just let the Uncle Sam take over!!!

Internet gambling, and any other type of gambling should be legal in all States. The government has no constitutional right to restrict our freedoms in such a way.
Yes, gambling can be addictive, but we really don't need Uncle Sam telling us what is good and bad for us. We should have the freedom to make that distinction ourselves.
