"Momma" hamster will make a nest from the bedding in the cage. DO NOT HANDLE THE BABIES OR DO ANYTHING TO THE CAGE for about 2 weeks or so.. Clean it just before she has the babies and only add food and change the water. DO NOT leave your body odor in the cage. This works with all hamsters breeds and you should remove the babies (ween) at about 3 weeks (4 weeks for standard hamsters).

I used to keep hamsters and ended up with a few litters of babies. Personally i would recommend paper bedding and either a little house or a box to buid the nest in. We tried the fluffy bedding but they just get tangled up in it. Also dont touch the babies for at least nine days as the mother may eat them. Paper bedding (non toxic of course) worked really well for my hamsters.

she'll use whatever is available to form a nest but to ensure a soft and safe arrival for the llittle ones, i recommend cotton bedding. they sell it in pet stores and looks kinda like cotton swabs. i''m also in quebec so you should have no problem finding it.
also a box (like an empty kleenex box with ALL plastic removed) would be good.

oh, and keep in mind, you need to keep a close watch on the mother after she's given birth. hamsters are known to eat their young in certain circumstances. (and it has nothing to do with "talking near it".) there are many many resources online for information like this too.

The male will eat the babies. Make sure to keep them apart. The mother will make a nest of shavings. Make sure she has plenty to eat & drink or she will eat the babies also. Once she has the babies don't clean out or mess with the cage except water & food. Good Luck

Just give your female LOTS of 'torn up paper' ... not 'too small' but not 'too large' ... about 2"X4" will do nicely. She can 'make her nest' by 'chewing it up smaller' or by just 'ruffling it around' to her preference.
DO NOT TOUCH THE BABIES while they are 'furless' unless their mother 'puts them in your hand' by picking them up with her mouth and setting them there.
While your female is 'pregnant' you'll need to feed her 'more' and 'better' ... make sure she can get 'calcium' from a 'cuttle bone' (for birds, but they're also good for pregnant rodents) and has LOTS OF CLEAN WATER to drink. Put her cage in a 'quiet warm space' where you can 'just fit' to check her and her 'food and water' but that she can 'be alone' until her babies are 'big enough to wean' ...
