It must be a DC area thing, because I had something similar to that occur. Yes, they were white. As for the cop, they are ALL like that. Black ones, White ones, etc...
$.02 listen: There are two kinds of people in this world. They got people who will hook you up and not think twice of it. And there are some that just dont bend the rules.
But think about this as well. Look at the differences between us Blacks and the Whites. Look at the history of difference. How they were brought up versus us. How they were conditioned. Its not the same thing. So them "playing it safe" is a trait of their personality and character. We Blacks we tend to bend the rules because we live life like that. We dont think twice of some things because we are not paranoid, picky people. Adding a dab bit more of alcohol would not have hurt. He just was playing it safe because that is the rules and thats the way he was conditioned.
Some Whites bend the rules. Its all about what, who, and how you were exposed in life, thats all.
BTW- I DONT follow the rules all the time.

Oh, and other races don't do that?
"Before you say it I know not ALL white people. " You are soo stereotyping and I am not going to spare you the lecture.
But regardless, I'll explain why I follow the rules.
I follow the rules because they are put there for a reason. I haven't met many cops who would give you a ticket for going 3 miles over, so on your part that wasn't a good example, but they do have the right to. And you agreed when you got your license to follow the rules of the road. So its your fault, and my own fault, for not obeying the speed limit.
They're not hiding, they're just following. Maybe you should try sometime.
Oh, and you're a stereotyper. It realllly annoys me to be stereotyped. Next time, try "why do some PEOPLE, hide behine the rules......" Honestly, you've hurt everyother race other than whites saying that they don't follow the rules. Thanks for reading... if you got this far.

You left without payng? Guess it was a good investment by the bartender to water it down! They have to pay for what you walk out on. I'm curious, as to why you think that the race of the person determines how they follow the rules. So if your bartender had been black you think he would have lost his job to get you more booze?
I've had plenty of bad experiences involving all races. And I don't find that anyone uses the rules except for their own gain, regardless of race. So I don't think its a racial issue, unless thats how you want it to be seen. People will use whatever they have over someone else if they can, something you can see examples of everyday. When some jerk loses it and starts screaming at his waitress, or someone returns stuff they bought after breaking it just because they know they can get away with it. Or when someone walks out without paying. Society is me, me, me. No one cares about anyone else, and most get a kick out of screwing someone over just because they can.

Mr. $0.02...
Some cops are just sticklers or he was just having a bad day.
I actually dated a cop who told me that if he caught me speeding, he would give me a ticket (he's Mexican by the way). 3 miles over the limit is a little ridiculous though. The stickler of a cop I dated said he usually pulled people over at 8 miles over or higher.
As for bartenders go, I was one, and trust me they do this too when they may be having a bad day or their boss is lurking over their shoulder.
Your best bet in either of these situations is to smile at first eye contact, remove the chip off of your shoulder and you'll see a difference in the way you're treated.

It's a self fulfilling prophecy... look and you will find.
Listen, not all white people are the same, just like all black people don't like fried chicken and water melon or spend their lives on welfare.
I'm white and I'm sorry for those whites or blacks or Mexican or Chinese etc. that treat you differently... it is really sad! However, please realize that it's not all of us, not even close!
Look at individuals and not color, your perception may change. As for people treating you differently, there is nothing you can do about that. You can only change you. Just say the he** with them... that is their miserable problem! Hopefully one day they'll wake up and take a look around them. Don't cave in... you can be a better person!
I really open my eyes when I meet a person that is different and find out who they are. Ive met some wonderful folks and have learned a lot! TRY IT, IT IS VERY ENLIGHTENING!

I'm am the FARTHEST thing from racist. Some of my best and life-long friend are black, but more black people use the race card than white people. It has nothing to do with white people "hiding" behind rules. Cops are out there for that reason, it's there job. Same with the bartender, it is his job to serve the drink that way. People like you keep racism alive, not us. When you have a legitimate question, let me know.....

You make it sound like a racist thing. Anyone properly enforcing the rules would have done the same to anyone.
Police especially need to consistently enforce the law if they expect it to be followed. For example, I lived in China. They have a law for almost everything. However, the law is so poorly enforced that when it comes to driving, traffic lights are little more than suggestions. They also randomly pullover cars to solicit bribes. China now has the highest number of traffic fatalities in the world with only 1/3 the number of cars of the US. After almost being ran over more than once and witnessing numerous fatalities, I'm quite thankful for America's "draconian" police force.
Besides, you sound a little bit like a dick, and you're surprised the bartender didn't want to give you extra alcohol? (If you don't ask for a double, you're implying you want it for free) You're lucky he didn't spit in it.

I think for a couple of reasons. First, out of guilt. Secondly, out of pride. The bartender probably, did not like the idea of someone not liking his work. They are used to cover up another emotion.
Also, I do not think your question is raciest. There is nothing wrong with putting forth effort to understand another group of people. I have lived in many countries, my husband is another race other then myself, and I actually enjoy questions like these. My friends they are black asked why whites love mayonnaise so much, and why my Mexican husband likes jalapenos? We asked why blacks like hot sauce? We answered the questiones laughed and talked about their new baby. Nothing is ever wrong with curiosity unless it is hateful.

I think you picked the wrong bar. We're not stupid people, we all know there is still racism. But, having said that, don't go looking for it either. It is unfortunate for your experience, but sounds like you have a bit of a chip on shoulder for having experienced it a lot lately. Go to more socially accepted places to shop, dine and drink. Bigger more well known establishments. If you get hassle then... Complain to management and follow up with a letter to their corporate offices. You will get somewhere.
I'm white and sometimes I feel like the minority when we are in bigger cities. You just gotta take it in stride.
Keep it steady!
