Sorry to break it to you but it isn't a purple elephant in the closet.
It is an ancient and fabled bird called the Roc. A very beautiful creature who dresses in a tasseled hat and rides across the sky every night in a sleigh pulled by eight tiny fireflies as she delivers babies all over the world by dropping them into the coal chute.
If you have been a bad Mommy or Daddy that year she then leaves a rotted pulled tooth under your pillow instead of money to raise the new baby with.
Then, with a hearty "Hi yo, Silver!!" she flies out of sight to rise up one hundred years later out of her own ashes.
However, a word of warning: If your baby is to grow up and become a Republican, he/she comes out of the Roc when she farts a big one that is loud and smelly. That is called a sonic boom. Which, by the way, is where we got the term "baby boomers".
