I'm in my own home & I realize there's a room that I never knew was there. I'm afraid to go in it, but when I do I find that it belongs to an old lady. I've never seen the old lady but her things are there. Clothes, jewelry, even coffee cup & newspaper.
And all I can think is this is a whole room in my house that I could have been using all these years but I didn't know it was here.
I have this dream a few times a year. The house changes, the room changes, the old lady's belongings change, but its always the same thing about the room & not knowing it was there.
Does anybody have any idea what this could mean?

To see something old in your dream, suggests that there is something in your life that you need to replace or get rid of.
To see newspapers in your dream, signifies that new light and insight will be shed on a problem that has been on your mind. You are seeking knowledge and answers to a problem. The best person to examine your dreams is you, but sometimes it helps to get an outside perspective and I enjoy dream language...
In addition to indicating some apprehension to aging, it could also symbolize some traditional values that you have always had but haven't recognized or explored for functional purpose.
Look back at the times in your life when you've had this dream and ask yourself if there is a pattern of denying a resource (value) that you have posessed.
If you can figure out the qualities in yourself that you are overlooking, you may be able to make practical use of them.

To understand a dream, it’s helpful to keep in mind why and how we dream. When we sleep, the body and perception systems are shut down, but the brain stem continues to fire and the cortex remains active. The thoughts that have been most active during waking hours—perceptions, experiences, thoughts and feelings, processed consciously or unconsciously—are still “peaked” and they associate with other images already linked in your cortex. In other words, the brain references this content, but not in a rational way, not using input from the external real world as in waking hours. So the story connectedness isn’t like everyday experience, but rather a strange flow from one image to the next. Therefore, dreams aren’t magical messages to guide our life, but sequences of associated images taken from everyday experiences - thoughts and feelings that matter a lot to us during our waking life. So it’s a mistake to apply one-size-fits-all symbols, such as Freudian meanings or standard “dreammoods” formulas. All you need to do is think about what kind of imagery it is and how it relates to your daily life.
The imagery is about your life. In youir life, there is an area that you aren't familiar with. It's always been there, but even when you notice it, you're afraid to go in. When you go in, you find out that it's about old age...an old lady.
Very likely this imagery is about an unconscious concern about your eventual aging...and all that this implies, diminished capacity and eventual dying.
This is the meaning. It's no cause for worry, because practically everyone has this concern and dreams with this theme. Going forward, when you're able to accept this aspect of your life, you will probably stop having the dream.

it means there is something your subconcious sees that is obviously there, but your concious wont see it. probably something in your marriage. has nothing to do with old ladies.
