Riding in the car on the way to the beach, he reached under the seat and pulled out a small wrapped ring box. Why he chose that moment while he was driving, I'll never know. I went berserk and started hugging him. He somehow managed to keep the car on the road. I couldn't stop looking at the ring all day. It was beautiful.

Well... picture a full-moon, Christmas Eve, snowy Northern Canada. We are leaning over the side of the bridge talking. There are no lights other than the Northern Lights, the moon, and the stars (Remember, this is northern Canada. Such places really do exist!). The view is the trees, sky, river.

He simply said, "Will you marry me?" and handed me a wee box with a square cut emerald ring inside. It broke my heart, but I had to say no.

It really wasn't a proposal per se...
I told him that my visa had expired and that the only way I could stay in this country would be to get married. We've been dating for four months, so he said: "I'll marry you."
That was 10 years ago. We're still married. Obviously done it for the right reasons.

He took me to my favorite place to see Christmas lights called Callaway Gardens and you ride this trolley thing through the woods with all of these lights. there is a big lake in the middle of the park that you are driving in and there is a very lake oak tree on the shore and they light it up with all these lights and it creates a perfect reflection onto the lake and he leaned over and asked me in my ear. it was freezing cold though so he couldnt fit the ring on over my glove. lol! It was very cute.

Well, frankly he did not, I DID

We dated for a while and then , he started talking about our future, our kids, our home, but he never proposed, it was all plans, and then I was fed up with all that and just said,
DO YOU MEAN THAT YOU WANT TO MARRY ME? CAUSE IF U DO THEN I ACCEPT

Oh I love this question...It will take long, I do hope you don't fall asleep.

I love eating sushi and every time we ate sushi we would eat the fortune cookies and read the fortune out loud. My now hubby, however, doesn't like sushi that much. And that is how the story of the proposal began.

It was Monday August 11th 2003, we were eating sushi at my parent's house and when we read our fortune cookie mine said: You should say yes to the next question someone asks you. So seeing that little paper gave my guy and idea, he took it without me seeing it and left to go back to work.

We didn't see each other all week so by Friday I was desperate to see him. In the meantime, he went around every sushi bar we know asking for fortune cookies and when he finally got one he carefully took the little paper out using a pin and inserted the one I had gotten on monday.

He called on Friday and told me we could have dinner at my parent's home and suggested sushi. Since I knew that he didn't like sushi that much, I objected...we should eat pizza instead, but he insisted and told me he would go buy the sushi and bring it home, but again, I objected, I wanted to go with him and buy the sushi together.

When we reached the sushi place and ordered the take out, I noticed he wasn't paying attention to anything I was saying and that got me mad; by the time we reached home again I went inside and told my Mom...I really smell trouble brewing...we are surely having a fight tonight.

We ate the sushi on the game room and when we finished he told me: Hey, aren't you going to read your fortune out loud, and I did...You should say yes to the next question someone asks you and he asked, Why don't we get married? as I turned to face him thinking he was joking, there he was, kneeling with the ring in it's tiny box...

I literally pounced on him and started crying non stop. Downstairs I went to show my Mom, who thought by my teary face that we had been fighting, but as soon as she saw the ring she started jumping up and down and shouting and crying too.

When all was calm again, and I wanted to start calling my friends to tell them, my now hubby said: No need to call them, I told them in advance and they are all waiting for us at your favorite bar.

And with that a new adventure began for both of us.

He proposed 6 times. I said "no" 5 times. I should have made it 6. :-)

Seriously, the guy asked me over dinner, at the gas station, in the rain...he wore me down.

When we were camping, in the tent wasted as all hell. I thought he was joking until he asked my dad's permission and brought me a ring the next week. Defiantly not the fairy tale I envisioned but still romantic in it's way.

He didn't ask. He just assumed we would get married. And the thing of it is, I had never brought up marriage. He gave me 2 weeks to prepare for it. I thought "Well, why not?". I made the deadline.
