I've tried, and it ALMOST works if you hold the yawn back long enough, but then you yawn more than you were originally going to in the first place.
so yeah, I agree too that it's impossible.

LOL. Yes, when I'm around company. It's interesting.... When one person yawns, others tend to start yawning too! So suppressing a yawn (or trying to) is the polite thing to do so you don't get something started.

Yeah, there were a few times when it was inappropriate to yawn, so I tried to hold it in- didn't really work out!

It's not impossible, but it is really tough to do. Unless it's one of those giant yawns, and then you're right.

it is kind of impossible to do that but you can cover your mouth with your hand while yawning

Well, if you mean not literally opening my mouth wide and yawning loudly, then yes...
If you mean silencing it, no, not really... something could go wrong with your body o.0

Because yawning is breathing through your mouth lol... and you can't breathe without opening your mouth.

Yes but it's impossible. I LOVE watching people trying it too. It just looks so funny. When I try it, I can picture how silly I must look too. :)

I haven't ever been successful...
Nor have I been successful when I have tried to apply mascara without opening my mouth wide.
I guess that's just the way it is.
