I've seen 3 up close. The first when I was 14 and I saw a girl get electrocuted and die. The last two have just been within the last year. One was a young girl who had died in a car fire (I smelled charcoal for a week) and the other was an elderly woman who had died but no one had found her for months. That one was pretty gross...bugs crawling out of the body bag as soon as it was opened and a stench that hung on me for mind.hours. Both were in the morgue. It is very disturbing. The car fire victim didn't really hit home with me until I was driving home from school that day (x-ray student, hence being in the morgue) and then it REALLY upset me. I scrubbed and scrubbed in the shower for over a half an hour. But I just couldn't get that smell or the image of her body out of my mind. I'm sorry you had to witness that. It really does mess with your head.

Yes, I have seen several and am only 15, but I have an extended family of over 400 people, which means that there are multiple funerals in one, year. I am planning to become a surgeon, so, in preparation, I have learned to accept that the person and their shell are two totally different things. I do not believe in an afterlife, but have come to realize that, once the brain shuts down, you are not left with much.
Other than funerals I have seen one dead person. I was walking down a street and turned, so I could walk back home, and saw the body of an elderly lady who was hit by a car. The officers there did not have time to cover the body yet. I was shocked but got over it. Everyone has their time.

I have seen dead people, dying people, bodies torn apart by gunshot or traffic accidents or knives. I have seen burned bodies and bodies that were floating around in the river for weeks. I have seen bodies that were eaten by bugs and animals. I saw a body that was missing a head, two arms and a leg. I have walked into a room where several people were dead and dying from being sliced up and the blood was so deep that it got in my shoes. But the one that actually haunts me is the body of a little girl who's mother was drunk and driving at 10 am. The mother drove her car and daughter into the path of a garbage truck. The little girl's body was in the front seat and her head was in the back, in her little car seat, where, had she been safely strapped in, she would have survived. Yes, it is very disturbing what people do to each other and to themselves. Sorry you had to see that.

Thats just plain freaky, if you didn't call the cops thats bad, no I have not seen a dead body, but I was on a vacation with my family, we were at the beach on new years day, an extremley hung over lady went over a railing and into the parking lot, the car was completley overturened and she was caught in the wrecked vehicle, 2 hours later I turned on the news to find that she had died just 20 minutes after I arrived at the place I was staying at. so technically no, this has occured on multiple occasions for almost everyone I know

or a dead animal.. luckily i have been fortunate enough not to have seen this although in the situation you described it would be hard not to look even though I would know I wouldn't like what I was seeing. My sister goes on ride alongs with this cop she knows and she saw some dead bodies and some pretty sick things.. she had to sleep with the lights on for a while. I hope you don't get bad dreams like her. Good luck......

Yes...I was once a volunteer fire-fighter, and removed several bodies from vehicles involved in accidents. Some of them were badly messed up, and it can be a tough thing to cope with the next day !!

No... not any disturbing, but I've been to a few funerals, including my dads when I was 7 years old. That may disturb some people.

Yes, I've actually seen several, but the one that was the 'most disturbing' was when my ten week old daughter died (in the hospital) of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. I knew that her 'death' would do 'good' and it did, since the doctor who was on call that day studied SIDS at the Chicago Institute and went on to get his father to start a SIDS Institute in southern California ... and that is why we now know that it's 'bad' to let babies 'sleep on their tummies' ...

Yes and in a similar scenario as you described. It's traumatic. Try thinking of something pleasant or focus on an object like flowers or a picture of a loved one. Eventually, the moment will fade.
