As a skateboard is not illegal to possess and unlike spray paint which is also legal but damages or defaces buildings and is always confiscated from taggers, I don't think they have the right to take the skateboard unless you were using it to damage property. Then it becomes a tool used in vandalism. As long as you aren't damaging anything, for them to take it is theft.

If it happens by Security, report it to the Police. If it happens by an officer, report it to Internal Affairs

No scuffing or railing on painted surfaces. Leave No Trace.
Skate Free.

When I went to school, they would have taken the skateboard (you might have gotten it back at the end of the school year), and then they would have proceeded to spank my bottom soundly for being arrogant enough to think I could get away with such a thing.

They can still take the skateboard...and it's a crying shame that they no longer can spank your bottoms for being so cocky.

Build yourself a half-pipe and some ramps or something in your backyard if you don't have a skatepark nearby.

Yes, they can. They can also charge you with trespassing and destruction of property and give your parents the huge bill to fix or replace anything you've broken. "Without warning?" So you didn't know that you and your friends shouldn't go in that school without permission and skateboard? I don't think so. Your parents may buy that, but the judge won't.

Of course they can take away your skateboards. What happens after that depends on when and where you were skating. After hours and not your school, trespassing. During school hours, probably handle it with your school admin as a serious offense. Quite frankly, you knew it was wrong, and you did it anyway. Accept the punishment!

Generally, yes. They have to give them back eventually (probably to your parents), but most counties and states allow them to do it.

As far as punishment, it depends on the school rules, how disruptive you were being (during or after school, for example) and whether you caused any damage. But detention or suspension would be common punishments.

Yea, they are armed with pepper spray and are not ordered to stand around and allow you to break rules on your school premises, plus who the hell skateboards inside a school anyhow?

it is private property so yep they can remove your boards etc also do you for trespassing.................maybe at a stretch they could also tag on B & E, if you had to hop a fence for instance.

And whats with getting a warning, you already know you should not be there so you would have choosen the action, hence you choose to get the punishment............
