If someone didn't know that they were pregnant (in the first month) and got drunk, could they cause a miscarriage. Do lots of people drink not knowing that their pregnant and their baby is fine? Just wondering.

I went on a trip I won at work to Panama City, got loaded every night (most days too). I didn't really feel well and couldn't drink as much as I normally could, but I sure tried. I found out the week after that I was 6 weeks pregnant. I know have a healthy, perfectly normal (developmentally and emotionally) 10 month old little girl. Don't worry too much about it, it's chronic drinking that causes fetal alcohol syndrome.

I drank in my first 2 weeks of pregnancy. I had no idea I was pregnant...I had been told by my obgyn I wouldn't be able to get pregnant the "natural" way. My daughter is now 15 months old and fine! You shouldn't worry too much about what you do before you know you are pregnant because you can't go back and change it.

Well if the person drank and got drunk and did not know they were pregnant it happens a lot. I actually was pregnant with my first child and was drunk like crazy and did not know that i was pregnant and she was 8lbs and 8Oz's. I mean if the person is drinking all the time then that could be a problem.

Possible, but miscarriages for the most part have the reason unknown. Like you said, MANY woman drink between conception and when the baby is born and the VAST majority of us are ok (at least on the surface LOL)

It could cause problems in some people but not all. I was one month pregnant and doing keg stands in Key West Florida. my son came out healthy. It is not known how much alcohol will affect a fetus, so once you know you are pregnant you should refrain from alcohol.

I do think that lots of people drink and do things that they are not supposed to be doing when they are pregnant and do not know it, and their baby turns out fine. My sister was several weeks pregnant before finding out and talked to her doctor about drinking, being on prescriptions and smoking and her doctor told her that very early on, the baby is not pulling it's nutritional needs from you so it is very likely that baby received none of the alcohol or prescription drugs. (She continued to smoke.)

i dont condone drinking while your pregnant at all but i asked my doctor since 2 days after my conception date i had a glass of wine with thanksgiving dinner and he said it probably wont hurt the baby if it happens before you miss a period. but yes drinking can cause problems and miscarriage even if you are unaware of pregnancy

happens alot actually (drinking and not knowing) and......
Consuming alcohol during pregnancy also increases the risk of miscarriage, low birthweight (less than 5 pounds) and stillbirth
