I keep trying them to make sure it's not just me, and they leave this nasty taste in my mouth? Is it because they took out the trans fats?

YEAH It's kind of a greasy aftertaste. I thought it was just because I was getting fries that weren't the freshest or hottest. But maybe it does have something to do with the trans fat free-ness of them as others mentioned. In any case, I still order them because I can't resist them, but they are a little weird now. I'm glad someone else noticed.

I don't know how many times you've heard this
story, but when Wendy's opened here in the
early eighties, they had frothy drinks, the fries
were hot and crisp, always, the hamburgers
were hot and tasty, the order-takers were
professional and polite. And my orders were
usually right. Now that is all just a fond memory.
Its for a lot of reasons, sorry employees, poor
food service are two biggies. Companies like
them know exactly what they are doing and that's
one reason I dropped out of business school.
And as for Joe Pesci's funny
remark about drive-throughs, the last straw
was when EVERYTHING was wrong on the
order, and I haven't been back in a long
time. Don't plan to go back.
My guess is that Wendy's owns these
two stores, and they will always be there and
not close, although there are bookoos of
better fast food places to eat here.
Now, what was that about the trans fats?
Fast food was never meant to be healthy. To
me the new direction is the wrong direction
when it comes to hamburgers.

Glad you asked this question, I noticed this too about 3 months ago my family doesn't taste it and told me that I'm crazy lol . I find them to now be discusting! I know they were trying to take the trans fats out, good for the body bad for the taste. I have stopped buying them. If I go now I will get a baked potato, salad or small chili instead of the fries. McDonald's has the BEST fries in my opinion!

Unfortunately that is probably the case.

Fat taste good in some instances.

Butter, is awesome, but a good fat, natural if not altered like some brands.

They use real potatoes as well.

Not frozen hydrogenated ones that you guessed it get treated with fat and polymers of plastic.

If you read a french fry label in a grocery store and there is more in there then potatoes , esp words that are hard to pronounce and end in ase which is fat. Then watch out for hidden calories and chemicals.

I have not noticed cause I haven't had fries from Wendy's in a long time now. I choose to get the side salad instead of fries.

Yes, I thought it was just me... They must be trying to save money by not filtering the grease. I guess it's not "Dave's way anymore" Wish he was still alive. Then the food would still be good. The nuggets have the weird taste too.

Possibly they changed the oil to a supposely healthy one. So, it takes time for you to adjust to the new taste. All oil once heated or reheated changes its chemistry and becomes unhealthy for humans.
