I have an irregular period and it has been really heavy recently and i keep leaking through and getting my bed all gross. I've gone to the doctor and he just said to wait it out. I have gone through 3 packages of pads in the past 4 days.I'm ok when i'm awake its just that i don't want to leak through in my sleep anymore. What should I do?

Thanks!

I get the pack of 28 and 32. They are nighttime pads. but my periods are usually a few months long and there is only a few days in between periods, but it has never been this heavy before.

go back to you doctor, your period sounds far too heavy, did he not give you an examination, did you explain clearly. If no joy from him get a second opinion.

It doesn't sound normal to me, a friend of mine bleed like you, she had an infection in her tubes/womb.

Just went back to you additional notes, you are definitely bleeding for far too long, go to the doctors with your mum or a friend for support, make the doctor listen to you.

PS the pill is not the answer at the moment, if you have a medical problem this needs to be sorted out first.

Your doctor is an idiot. You need to see an OB-GYN and be put on birth control to regulate your periods immediately. It makes your skin nicer too =p

Mine were that bad, and sometimes I'd pass out in the middle of my job because of it. I was fine when it was happening when I was really young but at 17, 18 and 19 I just got real tired, laid in bed all day, and became anemic because of the heavy bloodflow.

this is not normal and potentially very dangerous. you need medical attention now. call your doctor and tell him that you have gone through four packages of pads. you need to go to the ER and get checked out. young women have bled to death over a period of days from having a "really heavy period".

If your doctor won't pay attention, go to another doctor. Are you seeing your family doctor or an OB/GYN? Sound like an appointment with a good OB/GYN would be helpful. Even if it tapers off by the time you can get an appointment, it would be a good idea to seen an OB/GYN, explain what happened, and have a thorough exam.

Check with your doctor - You might have polyps that need to be removed. I had that several years ago and after the polyps were removed, it was better. But they can grow back, I think, that's why you should ask your doctor, preferably a gynecologist. But there are other causes as well.

With no history it is difficult to give a diagnosis on the internet.
You need to see another doctor, and also have blood drawn to see if you are anaemic after such heavy periods.
You may need to have your uterus scraped, which is quite common.

I will talk to different Dr. because there is got to be a way they can help you. I mean i don''t know your age group, but they can put you on birth control to regulate your period or on some other medication.

I think you should go to your doctor and ask about the possibility of a therapeutic d & c. Hope this helps
