I'm a college student with Mollys and I left for mid-term break. I had recently changed the water and left a vacation feeder for when I was gone. Well, my roommate, who left after me, sent me a message today telling me that my fish had babies on either monday or tuesday. I can't get back into the dorm to seperate them untill noon on sunday. It's killing me, does anyone know if I'm going to be able to see the baby fish?

Just to keep everyone informed, when I got back to school I still had anywhere from 11-21 fry swimming in the tank. I bought some new plants and the adult mollys (as far as i have seen) have been leaving the fry alone. Thankyou all for your answers, they really helped!!

It depends on how much hiding you have in your tank. Mollies will eat their fry as soon as they see them. I've seen livebearers have a baby then turn around and eat it before it could swim away. If the fry are all eaten by the time you get back, don't worry, it will only be a few weeks until there are more.

Every time our Molly has babies, something else in the tank eats them! But we have had them for up to two weeks. If your tank has good hiding places they may be able to avoid being a snack for a couple of days.

I had black mollies and they always were having babies. Pretty much as soon as they were born, the babies had to fight to survive. If the babies have enough places to hide, then there should be some left by the time you get back. I hope for the best for you!

Sorry to say this but they start as soon as there born. They sell a partition for the tank with small holes for the baby's to escape and can't be followed, maybe its not to late.
