Every time I try to install the Sims Life Stories, I get an error message that says I need DirectX 9.0c. I already have it, and I have downloaded it again (multiple times) from the Microsoft website. I have already checked dxdiag to make sure I have DirectX 9.0c, and it even registers on the EasyInfo diagnostic tool on the game disc. What do I need to do to get my game to work?

Hi,
I had the same problem and this worked for me:

1. Start the installer as usual, get to the message that tells you about the DirectX problem, do not press OK.
2. Click the "Start" button, then click "Run", type "regedit" without quotes.
3. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\
SOFTWARE\
Microsoft\
Windows\
CurrentVersion\
App Paths\
SimsLS.exe in the registry tree.
4. Find the key titled "DirectX Installed".
5. Change it's value from 0 to 1.
6. Press Ctrl-Alt-Tab and close the Autorun.exe process.
7. Now start the installation again. You'll skip the DirectX check this time.

Hope that helps!

that maximum in all probability skill that your video card isn't properly matched with Direct X 9.0c. hopefully you're on a private laptop, on condition that changing those are definitely carried out and not that costly.
