Yes. The airpump should stay on all of the time! The function of the pump is to oxygenate the water in the tank. They need it all of the time, not just when you are awake.

The same thing with the filter. You want to make sure to keep the water chemistry as stable as possible. This means constant filtration.

Good luck! Do lots of research. You will have more success the more you learn about it!

What you do with the air pump is your choice, they won't have much affect on oxygen levels as long as the filter is running. The filter should be running at all times. It contains a vast majority of the beneficial bacteria that breaks down fish waste. Leave the filter off too long and your fish will be poisoned in their own waste.

All fish require 24/7 air different than possibly Anabantoid fish, like bettas and gouramis. in case you heavily visual exhibit unit the fish , in case you have precisely the superb suited stocking, the superb suited filter out this is set up appropriate so as that the water pass breaks the water floor adequate, you are able to possibly get alongside without it. yet not one of the fish you have can breath oxygen from the air, in the event that they're gasping for oxygen , it means that they are very distressed, they does not stay to tell the story long as quickly as that each and every physique started occurring. it particularly is extra effectual to apply styrofoam, rubber or something else to diminish the noise. attempt putting it in the air purchase the twine, putting it in a corrugated card board container, be innovative. Your tank is extremely poorly stocked, and not cycled, it may be in the fishes superb pastime to return all of them ASAP and examine fish care formerly attempting back. i'm no longer attempting to sound advise or impolite, yet lots of those fish won't stay to tell the story the cycling, and those that do would be particularly under pressure for extra motives than I genuinely have time to form.

I leave mine on in all my (12) tanks. What you should do depends on the type of fish you have, the number of fish in the tank, and the size of the tank. How many filters do you have on the tank? If the fish are delicate, weaken or lessen the use of the air pump. It also depends on how many attachments are connected to the pump.

Definitely- for the cleanest water and best airation. Aquariums are fun and easy to maintain if you follow the rules about number of fish ( 1- 1"to2" fish per gallon) and don't overfeed them. The best place for help is probably the store where you bought them- go ahead, pick their brains! Also, for tropical fish, you'll need an aquarium heater, for consistant temperature. No heater required for goldfish. Hope that helps!

Absolutely! The filter and air pump, if you have these two things separate, should definitely stay on 24/7. Never, ever should they be turned off. Only the lights should be turned off at night.

Yes ofcourse for many reasons.
1-there is a bacterial bed that develops in your filter, if you turn off your filter water will cease to pass through it and the bacteria will die.
2-fish need air in their water, it doesnt appear magically.
3-fish poop alot and your filter just barely catches it. By leaving your filter on at night you are allowing it to catch more waste.
4-filters create movemnt in the water which cancels thermal layers(bad thing)
