it IS their magnum opus. yes it is very good, or so i think. the first half is about roger waters and his youth and his father dieing in ww2 ( RW is the bass player and sometimes singer) teh second half is abotu syd barrett, the original founder of the group who went insane and quit after one record. several of thier recoreds are about syd: dark side of the moon, wish you were here and animals ostensibly. really if you lsiten to all their works from dark side forward the themes are all intertwined, this includes the final cut, momentary lapse and division bell ( final cut was the alst record with waters). pink floyd is a great band, listen to it several times before you draw any conclussions, and if you ahve the chance see the movie too

Yes, it's superb.
Other Pink Floyd albums you should listen to are Dark Side Of The Moon, The Final Cut, Wish You Were Here, and Pulse.
You won't be disappointed.

After World War 2 the Russians seized the east of Berlin while the Allies the West. There they constructed the Wall which seperated the two sides. East was isolated to the West and the cold war began. My dad then told me that on the breaking of the wall there was a Concert with Pink Floyd playing. Hence the Wall. As i see it they are singing basically about politics. Russian opression etc.

Isn't this where we came in?

good grief, i'm getting old. that album's been out for almost 30 years now. i recommend it.

if you can track down the book "Which One's Pink?" by Phil Rose, that may help you understand the album (and it also has analyses of other PF concept albums: Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals, and Final Cut).

It is fantastic! One of the older ones by Pink Floyd, entitled "The Dark Side of the Moon" was inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame.

It's AWESOME!!

The lyrics are multifaceted in a number of places. The topics are bit heavy though.

Don't listen to it drunk or otherwise impaired unless you are looking for a good wallow in emotional pain.
