I know there are a few opal mines up in the northwestern part of the state, but that is like 12 hrs+ from Las Vegas!!! I need a mine at least half that distance... I guess max would be 8 hours. Any ideas??

Or another idea would be some mine in arizona/californina, since las vegas is on those border. Actually... I dont even care if it is an opal mine.... let me know if there are any mines I can dig at near Las Vegas.... Thanks!!!

The only Opal mine I can think of in Nevada is the Royal Peacock and like you said it's in the Northwest part of the state.

i dont know of any mines at all that tourists can go into in las vegas area at all. ive lived here 2 yrs but never heard of that. opals are much more common in austrailia.
