My baby has been breast fed for almost 8mo now. We used a bottle with breast milk from time to time from about 3wks to 5mo and he did fine with it. We didn't use the bottle from 5mo till now and Now he won't take a bottle of breast milk or juice. (I didn't really want to start juice, but he's constipated).

I have tried putting some juice on the nipple and he refuses.

Just keep trying. My baby refused to drink juice at that age too (I also only tried when she was constipated). Make sure you arent the one offering the bottle, he'll be more likely to reject it. Try offering the juice watered down - 1/2 juice and 1/2 water, or in a sippy cup instead of a bottle. Try baby food prunes - that stuff worked great for my kid. If that doesnt work, try glycerin suppositories made for children and infants, but get your pediatrican's ok before you use them.

What about a soft spouted cup? Avent makes spouts that go onto their bottles. plus, if its only for a bit of "medicinal" juice, can't someone just sit with him and offer sips from a real cup? Another fun trick is to suck some juice up into a straw, put your finger over the top and drip into baby's mouth.

Just be persistend, sweeten up the nipple to get him going, it will not hurt him. Trust me, the doctors poo-poo on that one, but I raised three healthy children.
