I am a huge basketball fan and recently enjoyed watching college basketball. So, I was trying to understand the championships. like the big East, the final 10. Is there like one bracket?
Like tonight I watched georgetown play pittsburg and i heard the commentor say now they are the big east champions. So is that it for their season? Are there other championships?
Sure hope im not confusing anyone.
Plus is there a site where I could find out more infor and to understand the different championships that go on.
thanks.

HOYAS is right about every thing he said. But may I add that the winner of the conference as well as the conference tournament winner get automatic bids to NCAA Tourny.

All college teams belong to a particular conference. For instance the Big East is a conference. Duke is in the Atlantic Coast Conference or the ACC. Kentucky and Florida are in the Southeastern Conference, etc. Each conference has a tournament and therefore a tournament champion. This can give a team that hasn't had too successful a season a chance to win or do well in their tourney and possibly get a bid to the Big Dance which is the NCAA Tournament. here is how it goes, every confrence has their own little tournament, and the winner of the confrence tournament automaticaly gets to go into the NCAA tournament. The NCAA tournament is a lot bigger, 65 teams from every confrence. a team that does not win their confrence tournament can still make the NCAA by having a good win/loss record, and strength of schedule, and other little things, but those are the main, cant wait for tomorrow when the brackets come out!

No; right now championships are going on for conference titles. NCAA tournaments start later this week; so teams that didn't win their conferences can still compete for another title.
