We turn our clocks forward in the spring and fall in the winter because of daylight saving time. We do this because of the rotation of Earth. If we did not change our clocks, our alarms would go off and we would wake up in the dark. To make sure that we get up as the sun is rising over the horizon; we set our clocks back one hour in the fall and forward one hour in the spring.
