Acting please. Like what to wear, tips for cold readings, stuff like that? If you have any tips that would be good too.

Though I don't have any web-sites to list for you I do have a small amount of advice that I could offer. First off, if the CD is calling you in for an audition based off a headshot, congratulations! You're job is 50% done, obviously you have the look or something that caught their eye in the first place, otherwise they would of just passed you over.

As far as what to wear, solids are always a good choice. Nothing too flashy, bright or busy that may distract from your performance. Dressy but casual if you know what I mean. Make an effort not to use a body wash or shampoo that has a strong scent to it, and never wear perfume or cologne. The scent you choose could be the same that a former signifigant other used to wear who dumped the CD and believe it or not something as small as that could cost you the gig.

As far as cold readings go, there is way too much information to relay in this little area. I would suggest at the minimum getting some books or taking some classes and workshops to help hone the skills.

But honestly when it comes down to it, every CD in town is different and the way they choose talent is different. You'll drive yourself crazy trying to figure out what each one is looking for. Best advice would be, to go in, don't second guess yourself on your performance, and sell your product. The business side is about making money, and if you can sell yourself to the CD they'll have alot more confidence that they can sell you to the market.

Actually, the best audition advice I've ever recieved came from a book called "Audition" by Michael Shurtleff. It's an awesome and insightful book written by a casting director. It's got all the stuff you're looking for.
