i just wanted to know when & why we use the word lol......is it an english word?????

these days it practically is an english word...it started over instant messengers as LOL (laugh out loud) so if someone says something funny you can reply with haha (literal meaning), LOL, ROFL (rolling on the floor laughing), LMAO/LMFAO (laugh my @$$ off, laugh my F***ing @$$ off,). today i was reading the new seventeen magazine and i was surprised ho many times they used LOL, and OMG (oh my god/gosh). nobody really says LOL out loud, but it is popular in anything printed. people do say O-M-G like that, mostly as a referance to the pop-culture phrases people use online, in a joking way. hope this sort of helps!
