Well, I'm only 16 and I don't have a lot of experience with life and struggles, but what I do know, if i interpreted the question correctly, is this:
We can't find the verses we need, only God can show us the verses at the right moments.
So, have we changed the Bible to fit our needs? I think in some cases we have. We are constantly trying to find verses that mean something to us, that we can be like "Wow! I truly understand now!" But if we could just sit back and let God show us the verses he wants us to read, who know what the Bible can tell us. There have been so many times when I have wanted a verse so I looked and looked and looked. But i couldn't find them. I believe the reason I couldn't find one was because I was depending on the Bible to sooth my needs, not God. So this sort of poses a new question. Maybe, instead of changing the Bible to fit our needs, maybe we just use it wrongly. I mean, we are sinners.
Yeah, so I hope some of that made sense and it didn't sound stupid. I'm curious to see how many non-Christians will reply to this and say some "Christians are stupid" remark. I hope not.

No doubt. Man is constantly seeking to justify selfish desire.
However the problem is much much deeper. Marriage is an institution that strengthens the pillars of our society. Family values define the true nature of our civilization. The USA has one of the highest divorce rates of all industrial nations. The family in America is under attack...our strong young men are led away to war, while the battle is right here at our own front doors.
The foundation of the USA is quickly eroding. Christians TV ministers lead the pack in many ungodly acts. The bible states "If the blind lead the blind, they both shall fall into the ditch."
If you have not given in to the temptation, thank GOD and pray for the rest of us. For 10 years I have not been unfaithful,
but temptation is there. We must believe God can keep us, if we want to be kept. Let us not look at our leadership, spiritual or political, God will judge them.
Prayer is very much needed back in our schools, we call our selves a Christian Nation, but break too many of our own rules.

The Bible has been rewritten and updated in many different versions through the years, but I don't think we change the verses to make ourselves comfortable. I read the word as it is and take it that way. There are many things that make me uncomfortable to read or study in the Bible, but I do anyway and try to get a clearer understanding of it. Your husband walked out on you. It takes two people trying in a marriage to make it work. God knows that and I don't believe would hold you accountable. He loves you just as you are! Talk to Him and tell Him how you feel. I think you'll feel better soon if you do. I wish you luck in starting over. I have been there myself and understand how tough it is. Good luck to you.

The Original Council of Nicosia changed a great deal about scriptures to suit their own needs. Many of the Gnostic Scrolls were banned because they didn't meet the myth they were trying to portray. For example, the Gospel of Mary was banned because it didn't meet their views on Women. This the main theme of the hugely popular book "The Da Vinci Code".

certainly. If that weren't the case, each Christian or perhaps non-Christian could desire to agree on precisely what the Bible skill. Why is there a persevering with debate between people who have faith in capital punishment and those that don't? Why is that some "radical" professional-existence supporters think of it rather is okay to take the existence of abortionists or perhaps professional-determination supporters? human beings opt for each and all the flaws they suspect in to in nice condition mutually and interpret their faith to bypass alongside with that. it is not merely Christianity, it rather is maximum religions. you do no longer assume that all and sundry Muslims are terrorists that are pleased with construction-bombing, do you? Christianity is crammed with numerous distinctive interpretations and myths that the unique meaning of the religion commonly gets lost interior the hype. sure, i'm a Christian yet I commonly have a tough time figuring out with different Christians because of the fact of each and all the fake impact. i do no longer think of i recognize each thing approximately God yet i do no longer think of all people else does the two.

You raise many good points. Some of which I have written about on my web site. It's www.thedevotionproject.com American Christians do a lot of crazy things that Christians around the rest of the world don't do. Don't judge real Christianity by what you see in America. We are a spoiled and indulgent people who often bend the truth to fulfill our own lusts and agendas. Good question.

I do think that man has used demonational jagon to express what they don't understand about the scripture. Some of us take the word literaly because we also try to block out what the reality is of our situation instead of going deeper for more of a spritual understanding regarding certain situations thus you have people doing this on both sides of the spectrum.
The scripture tells us not to lean to our own understanding, yet we must also accept the truth and reality and move on our faith understanding that we all have free will and choice therefore we cannot force men/people to do what we think is right. The word says I think in II Corithians that it is better that a contentious husband or wife choose to leave rather than to stay because God has called all men to peace. Even Moses went to God because of mans harding of the heart to ask for divorce to be premitted. No, God does not like divorce because it becomes like a death full of hurt and sorrow and it breaks covinant, but there are plenty of examples in the word that free you from a situation. He left you for whatever reason even if he only committed adultry in his heart the point is he has chosen to free himself so you should let him be by moving on too. God does not force us thats how good *He is. Yours husband is being unfaithful to your rather its he is with another woman or not because he has chosen to break his vow to cleave to you, he has abandon you therefore that is unfatihfullness within it self. He has broken covinant within everyway. Men become very selfish when they have other women in their lives and just because he has not told you or you have not caught him in the act does not mean he has'nt.
The point is he is no longer faithful to the marriage! Move on.... he has. You can't expect a man or anyone to follow the rules of the bible if they dont have faith in it or beleive in it or has chosen not to. He is not equally yoked obviously to what and how you beleive and feel or want. It is feared to be thought that if a person does not live by your theology then they have been cancelled and nullified anyway, in other words oil and water won't mix no matter how you try to mix them in the same bottle the will seperate. Be willing to let go and let God no matter what. This is not about your will, but the will of God in your life regardless of what happens. Accept what God allows, lean not to your own understanding and see the realness of what things really are and move on through and by faith! Trust me, if he has moved on thats on him not you. Move on too. Stamping's comment is just another example of people blowing the scripture out of context and content! Jezbell had nothing to do with make up! Pertaining to man gets creeping because there are womens pants and mens pants and there is a difference plus men wore robes and women wore robes 2000 years ago so it had to be a difference in the two because the did not have pants! Men did where skirts sometime they were called kilts! They still do in Scottland traditions see how crazy this can get! This is what I mean by demonational nonsence! Man made interpretation gone wild like a grils gone wild video!

Not only do you intepret the scriptures to suit changes in society, you also change the bible. Get a bible that was printed 60 years ago and compare it word for word to a bible printed in 2006. You will see wording changes and other differences.

As humans -irregardless of race or religion-it is the norm to change whatever has to be changed to fit one's wants and needs. It is a means of not only satisfying our wants and needs but of also being able to somehow justify our doing so to others. If you look close enough, the need for lawyers and a lot of the cleric are made necessary by our need to interpret to our needs.

Unfortunately, alot of people inteprete scripture differently. Dosen't mean that it's right. The bible is in black & white. What it says is the truth & the way! We're all sinners but that dosen't mean God loves us any less. He gives us his grace & we should all strive for that! God is the only one that truely knows our hearts & minds. If someone dosen't understand the bible..there are awesome study bibles out there!
