1) No, I don't believe they are.
2)Just because something is not what your use to seeing doesn't make it evil. I mean really, if you had somebody (be it a knight, wizard, sorcerer or whatever) trying to hunt you down don't you believe you have the right to defend yourself? People always have misconceptions about things they don't understand and it will always be that way.
3) I think it's wrong the way nearly every dragon t-shirt, figurine, game, etc..... has some snarling, red eyed, fire breathing creature on it. Because a creature is all it could be, because who knows what a dragon is really like.

Depends on who you ask.
If you ask a very religious Christian then you may get a "yes." Since dragons are depicted in the Bible to be evil creatures and even embodiments of demons and of the Devil himself, it's no wonder that some "hardcore" Christians believe dragons to be evil. The book of Genesis also depicted a serpent to be the creature of ultimate temptation that led to the downfall of mankind (specifically Eve and Adam). This only worsens the situation for the good dragons out there. Dragons were/are/will be thought as evil creatures by a group of people here and there due to this misconception. I bet if the Bible depicted a dog or cat being the tempter of Eve, the world would be a liiiiiitle bit different (specifically the pet preference).......

Dealing with scientific terms, it all comes down to the question: Can an animal be born with evil in its genes?

In England and other parts of Europe they are considered evil. It seems like most other cultures think they are good; or at least it's true for China and the Americas. Ancient Mexican mythology has the feathered serpent god Qetzecoatl (I'm not sure how to spell it). I live in Missouri, and the Native Americans in nearby Illinois had a dragon-like mythological creature called the Piasa. Somewhere in Illinois there is a painting of the Piasa on the side of a cliff, and some businesses are called Piasa. I think it's interesting that a lot of ancient people have similar kinds of creatures in their mythology--I wonder how that happened. I think the Christians were the first people to make them evil, I guess because Satan is called a dragon in the Bible.

No, dragons are not evil.

Evil is a learned attitude and dragons are not by nature evil, simply defensive like many other animals (and the American Indians) if their territory is invaded by foolish people who travel or build too close by.

They are also carnivores and if people let their cattle or sheep graze too close to a dragon's feeding grounds, what do they expect? After all, picking off one animal out of a herd is much easier than hunting for a deer or boar in the woods, and the dragon isn't going to analyze whether or not the cattle or sheep "belong" to a human. Cattle and sheep also taste better than people since they're herbivores and not omnivores like humans - therefore humans are not a food preference but an incidental meal, similar to people being attacked by bears, lions or other wild animals.

1. Yes and No
2. oriental culture, the dragon is a symbol of protection, not evil at all.
European culture, all the legends of dragon slayers, they slayed them for a reason and the reason is to protect humans from them so the answer is Yes.
3. The Secret Order of the Dragon of which Vlad Tepes( The Impaler) was a member and the order was meant to protect Christianity from the invading army of the Muslim Turks. So again, we find the dragon as a symbol of protection.

1. Not all of the types of dragons are evil
2. Many are just hoarders who wish for gems, jewels, and riches, so kidnapping a princess and asking for a hefty sum is sometimes in order
3. Other dragons, like the darkest colors can be a pain! They find it fun to torment lower beings, or like to put haughty humans in their place.

I am gathering information from folk lore and dragon books and *gasp* television shows. (Animal Planet did a very beautiful 3-D rendition of dragon life. It was cute!)

1.No dragons are not Evil.
2.First of all if they existed they would be animals, and unlike human beings no animal is inherantly evil, they simply are what they are. They attack because they are threatened or because you are imposing on their territory. And of course with their destructive abilities they would leave a trail of destruction and it's the level of destruction that brings about the feeling that they are evil.

No, dragons are not evil.
I was writing a book about dragons who aren't evil. Dragons are kinda like people, not good or evil, but their actions could be either good or evil.
