why do i get this burning,stinging feeling sumtimes after sex?

sumtimes when me and my boyfriend have sex...i end up with this kind of stinging feeling around my vagina...this rarely ever happens ...and it goes away within a half hour. or sooner if i put a wet towel between my legs. but i was wondering why it gets like that?
