Of course you can. Look at the Ethiopians, Eritreans, Somalis, and other East Africans they are a blend of East Indians from India and Sub-Saharan African. Some Europeans marry people from Nigeria and Ghana and race their kids there. There are tribes in West Africa that have obvious traits from the Caucasian race.

Race is mainly a social construction, it has very little to do with genetics. As far as genetics go, a person is more similar to someone whose ancestors came from the same place the person's ancestors came from, and less similar to someone whose ancestors came from a place father away from where the person's ancestors came from. Thats all that genetics can tell you; "race" as it is used today basically means what color skin you have, what shape your eyes are, what texture your hair has, and other qualities that are only controlled by a few genes. Everybody has mixed ancestry to a certain degree, since groups of people have always been travelling all over the world and interbreeding with each other. In fact, if you go back far enough, everyone's ancestors came from Africa (probably somewhere around present-day Ethiopia). From there, various groups spread out around the world, and different groups merged with each other, diverged from each other, and experienced interbreeding with other groups. Generally those whose ancestry as far as they can trace it comes from one area (and so their parents look pretty similar) are considered to be one pure "race," whereas someone who's ancestors interbred more recently (and so their parents look more dissimilar) are considered "mixed race."

Many people in the world has some mix race in them. I am part Italian, German, French and Irish. I am Canadian. I was born here, raised here..My son is part Native, German x2, Italian, French and Irish. My ex is German and Native...there are alot of mixed races.
You can still be 100% of something, have to go waaaaay back in the orgins of family though, to make sure no other race was ever involved except West African for the case of your 'friend'. Check it out...

Just because Somalians, Ethiopians and Eritreans look different from North African Arabs and the rest of Black Africans DOES NOT MEAN they are mixed with Indians.
Why can't it be the opposite, what if these people existed LONG BEFORE THE INDIANS, and actually the Indians descended from them.

If you are a black person from sub-Saharan Africa, you are more likely to be pure black than a black person in the Americas. The same can also be said for whites. Whites in Europe are more likely to be pure caucasian than whites in the Americas, although there are many pure caucasian whites in North America.
