Are you happy about your age? I am so depressed about growing up. I'm 12, almost 13, and I don't want to be a teenager! I know it's stupid to be sad about it, because it won't change, but I can't help it! It's just that life was so much more worry-free when I was little. What would you do? Do you have any advice?

Well, I'm almost 16 and I suppose I have to be happy with my age. It only comes around once, right? Yeah, when I first started high school, I was really sad because I could tell I've already changed a lot from what I was just last year, and I was kind of disgusted by myself that I started to care about how I looked and cared about what other people thought about me. I felt like you, I guess. I was really sad that my age now involved the word "teen", and I would have to take on more responsibilities and all that, but now, it's really not that bad. You get to date, you get to eventually drive, you can go see 14A and 18A movies - eventually. Don't worry about growing up, because you're still you, you just learn more and become more, get it? Cheer up. It's really, honestly not that bad. And maybe you'll even end up wishing you were still a teenager when you're married with kids. =P

Amen sister! I am turning 20 next month, and I am SO depressed about it! People tell me that I act like I am 25 or 6 and look like I am 22 or so, but half of me just can't bear to have a 2 in front rather than a 1.

I miss living at home, not worrying about bills, knowing that I wasn't paying $5000 to go to school, not worrying about co-ordinating two jobs and the likes.

For me, I wish I was in grade 4 again from September to November. Those were probably the best days of my life.

As for advice: high school, inevitably, will suck regardless if you are the most popular or the least popular. Try and make new friends, stay away from drugs and sex, and learn to love your body. Also, when they tell you that it is VITAL to do well your last year of school so that you can get into University/college.. they REALLY aren't joking lol.

Good luck with the big 1-3 :)

I miss that age so much...but then again I love where I'm at now. Teenage years are the hardest years because those are the time where you tend to "learn things the hard way" and through experience. You disobey and disregard all advice and do it anyways...or don't do it. Me, I'm 18 and when I was 12, i couldnt wait til i was 16. When I was 16, I couldn't wait until I was 18...now that I'm 18 I can't wait until I'm 21!
You have to grow up...unforunately. You're only 12, you dont have to worry about having any responsiblities just yet. Its a scary thing but your friends are going through the same thing. They'll give you the most support. Good luck!

When I was 13, I hated it. (Most of the time) I felt the same way, that I wanted to be little again and I felt like even though I had friends, I had none that were really like me. Just try to feel better about it! You can still act like a kid in many ways, no matter what age! Spend time with the family and friends that you love most, and appreciate everything they have to give you. It will get better, I promise. This age is tough for everyone.

Sorry, no. You shouldn't be depressed about your age. It'll go by fast. I was excited to be a teenager when I turned 13. Now I'm 14 and my life couldn't be any worse. Things change. People change. Lives change. Friends change. But don't turn out like me and become depressed because of all of your stress and your seemingly pointless life.

oh god this is depressing. im sorry you also have these thoughts floating in your head.

i just turned 16 and i hate it. i never want to reach 18. i have had a fear of growing up since i was in 12 or 13. just try not to think about it. i take it you arent one of those MTV kids who try to be all grown up and everything. you need to get older.

it has to happen, but it is possible to make the process less apparent. have fun, take lots of pictures. i talk to my close friend about this topic sometimes. he has a more optomistic view, he just lists all the fun things we'll do when were older.

give the swings a visit once in a while and do age appropriate things with you siblings (if you have any; you might grow apart from them later so stick with them now)

Just to let you know. Life is not easy. You will get stressed, sad, angry, and sometimes hard to deal with. There is no reason to get all upset. These are the prime years. These tell you what you wil be doing the rest of your life. So live everyday as if it was your last. And Remember every 60 seconds you spend unhappy. It is another minute you lose of being happy.

My preteen and that i are having a confusing time of it, too. i attempt to %. my battles, yet having stated that, there are way too many. we are both obdurate or maybe as it includes conflict of words we've a tendency to hit head on and then loose our way. As unhappy because it sounds I particularly have come to the top that it truly works this type- ex. She says or does something advise( or unreasonable etc...)- I reply with (what i imagine is) common sense- she feels undesirable yet is already vested so maintains with her moves- the objective being to get me mad so as that I say something that makes me the undesirable man or woman and replacing the most objective of the wrestle - subsequently eliminating, so some distance as she is worried, truly some the guilt from her moves and making me (our courting) the project. If I take the time to make certain this trend I proceed to be calmer and characteristic a more suitable positive threat of preserving the most objective on the genuine issue and fixing the project. I, in my opinion, am engaged on permitting her more suitable area and time in her room to relax off, yet this, too, is a issue fantastically even as it truly is time smooth assignments that are causing the project, aka, homework etc... I also am very conscious that she is not only scuffling with hormones yet to boot college artwork, friends and a familiar self expertise and popularity of herself. that is difficult to save in ideas contained in the thick of it, besides the undeniable fact that it truly is reliable to understand the position your daughter stands so some distance as stresses. Does absolutely everyone understand a reliable source to help them study a thanks to address teen subject matters?

I'm 14 and I'm fine with getting older, but I don't want to leave Middle school. I really like my band director and the other teachers, but I'll visit them because my grandmas the nurse there. It is kind of hard getting older, more responsibility, work at school, but after you get use to it it's not that bad. Just set a goal that you really want to get at that you have to be a certain age to do, like drive or something you like. It works for me. You'll eventually love being older, trust me!
