I've established this online creative arts community in April of 2007. http://serened.proboards38.com The overall activity in the forum went up and down over time but it seems like the activity has gone down and just won't come up again. How do I get everyone to come back and more people to join? I've tried mass emailing - but I just can't seem to get much of a response. What can I do?

You are absolutely right - I meant to say April of 2005!

That is a good point - I am not sure though if you took a close enough look. There is a "Creative Arts" section (e.g Digital Arts, Songs/Lyrics, etc) it's set up so members can start a new post - include their material and others can simply reply to the post with their comments.

As for the look of the site - I was going for a more simple/sophisticated look but I may just change it and make it look more... artsy?

I would set up a myspace acct (it's free) and network your forum there. That's were you will find everyone. You can also link it to your email but I almost gaurantee that is where everyone is at these days! Email is a tad bit dated when it coms to mass marketing because of spam-no offense.

You say that your 'forum' is an 'online creative arts community' but I just went and took a 'look at' your site and I couldn't see ANY kind of 'creative arts' or any hints at 'good places I could go to see that sort of thing' or 'hear' or 'watch' or anything. Your forum is TOTALLY BORING and while you do have a good 'setup' for 'online chatting' and stuff, you need to put 'better colors' (something 'bright and happy' but also 'mellow') and put some 'real art' ... set up the site so that there is an 'online gallery' for people to show their 'visual arts' off ... an 'online' site where people can put the music they write, or a play, or ANYTHING. Make your site more 'interactive' by asking 'just viewers' to 'vote' on which pieces they 'like best' and which they 'don't like' and tell why ... And I'm sorry, but you did not 'check' your 'explanation' very well, since you said you established your forum in April of 2007 ... and it's still only March of 2007. I think that you meant April 2006 ... and it's that sort of 'mistake' that can 'blow' even the best forums 'out of the water' ... because it seems like a 'very stupid' mistake, and yet is a mistake that is 'all too easy to make' but also all to easy to 'correct.'
