That sounds fishy to me. I doubt that they would take them away for only because your house was destroyed.

If you are telling the complete honest truth, I would talk to an attorney. Something is up.

uh...no. I dont' know who told you that crap, but unless you have a court order stating that you "for crimes against children cannot be around children even your own", the state cannot take your child at birth. The state cannot take your child unless you are deemed an unfit parent.
Now if they are telling you they will not return the children because of an unsafe environment (ie..homelessness) then that is a different story. If you have a home, and can provide a good life for them, and there are no legitimate complaints about your parenting you have nothing to worry about.

It depends what country you live in. You heard about China's one child polity. well nowdays the state does not force couples to have one child. In china the rules nowdays are a bit more complex but it involves if you have more than an x amoult you simply just get taxed/ or pay fines. Theres no real law stoping you, you just have to give the goverment more money.

Now for rest of the world you can have as many childern as you like, but the state can take them away from you if they think and can prove that any child in your family is as danger or what there mential or pyshicial grow is at harm from you or any of your familes members.

Unless you are a currently incarcerated felon, no. And maybe not even then.

Having children is one of the fundamental constitutional rights recognized by the Supreme Court. There are very very few circumstances where a state can restrict that right.

Then again, the state can always tell you to do something. Just like anyone else on the street can always tell you to do something. You just can't be punished for ignoring them in a situation like this.

No agency would remove children from their home without good cause..... I don't believe it when you say you didn't do anything - that it was because of Katrina. Thousands of families with children were displaced by Katrina and their children weren't taken away.

You obviously presented a danger to your children so they were removed from your custody - and rightly so. The state is right in removing any further children you may have so you don't abuse them also.

Unless you or your hubby are child beaters or molesters, there is NO reason the state should even consider saying such crap. If you have proof, contact a lawyer asap. Good luck
