Of course he did. But if, in the screenplay, M. Night Shyamalan had him tell Crowe, there would have been no "surprise" ending and the whole point of the movie would have been lost.

Yeah, I think he did know all the while. And he did say that he saw dead people, and they didn't know they were dead. If he'd just flat out told him, either Bruce Willis's character probably wouldn't have believed him, or there would be no plot. And Haley's character didn't know to help those other dead people he saw, until Bruce's character told him to face them to find out what they wanted.

Yes he did.

But the real question is: Did Haley Joel Osment know that M. Night Shyamalan's career was dead?

Sure the kid knows that Bruce Willis is dead. Why do you think he is scared of him the whole time? He does not want to talk to him.

I don't think they ever made it clear whether he knew or not. Something they wanted you to think about. In the beginning I don't think he knew because he hadn't yet learned that he could use the ability to help these ghosts. He feared seeing dead people, so he probably would've feared Bruce if he knew.

The kid did know. Why else did he tell Bruce to talk to his wife while she was sleeping? It was the only way she could hear him. He also wanted to hang on to Bruce because he was the only one who wanted to help him, not get help.
