50% of people have them. why is it such a big deal if i want my avatar to be a vagina? don't say "cuz kids will see it" - half of all kids have a vagina, right?

You're question has been debated for quite some time, most people call it "censorship." You make a valid point that 50% of people have a vagina, that's a very humanistic point of view for you to take. Humanists have an appreciation for the human body, Greek sculptors who portrayed the nude body could be considered humanists. During the Middle Ages when the church controlled society showing the nude figure was pretty much illegal, nowadays it's not entirely unheard of to see a nude work of art.
I suppose my real response to your question would be to ask a question of you. Why is it that in films a woman's breasts are often shown and the movie doesn't recieve a very severe rating, but you very rarely see a woman's vagina or a man's penis?
The thing that many people would say to counter your argument about 50% of people having a vagina is that 50% of people don't have the same vagina. every body's different. They may argue that to show someone else's vagina could cause self esteem issues if the viewer's vagina isn't as nice as the one pictured. You could easily counter by saying that it would boost self esteem if the viewer's vagina was nicer.
It's just a matter of opinion and policy. Sorry about how long this answer is, this is a question I bring up rather often when having discussions out and about.

actually 51% of the world has one. But that's hardly the poing. 100% of the population has an a**hole, but should my avatar be one of those?
Different people are offended by different things. Religious people are especially touchy to anything with sexual connotation. I has to do with the whole modesty thing and it's uncommonality. When Elvis first appeared on television they censored his legs because they were afraid people would be offened by his dancing style. Times change, but slowly. Until the majority of the population feels comfortable looking at a vagina, expect complaints. I'm pretty sure I would be flagged even more quickly if I had a penis as my avatar

I don't find it offensive but I would be offended if you insisted on showing me yours when I am not interested in seeing it. I would be highly offended if you insisted my kid have to see it; whether or not my kid has a vagina! Some things are meant to be private! As for "vagina power," vaginas don't have much power.
Yes, it would be since this isn't the place to be showing off your vagina. There are plenty of adult sites that would be thrilled to have you showing off that and any other body part that should be covered on here. So, either cover it up here or go somewhere else and show it to the world.

Let's start by getting spelling right, you mean sight, two different things, sight and site. But, besides all of that, don't know where you get the idea that the sight of a vagina is offensive. Actually, being a woman, and having one, I don't find mine offensive, and the men I have gone out with, especially my husband certainly doesn't mind the sight of mine, actually looks forward to seeing it. So, get on a new kick this one is really silly.

Oh, because you are smart enough to realize it is innapropriate and tasteless and want to get a rise out of people.
Look, I have no problem with vaginas, as I have one myself. However, I don't want to see pictures of them with no warning and no reason. I don't want my daughters too, I don't want my husband to, and I don't want my nephew to, either. It's not sick, disgusting, or wrong, it's just unnecessary, ridiculous garbage. Celebrate womanhood without shoving it down people's throats. My vagina is NOT is the most interesting part about me, or any other woman either.

If it looks like a large beaver with buck teeth then yes it's offensive. Sometimes they also have an offensive smell like a dead fish.
