She had bipolar and depression and it was not known at the time, I loved Joan Crawford such style and beauty but her parenting was not the best ! Mommie Dearest is one of my favorite movies..

She was a crazy good for nothing child abuser. Just watch Mommie Dearest esp. when she freaks out and screams in the middle of the night "No wire hangers"

There was a movie called Mommy Dearest where she was portrayed as somewhat unbalanced and abusive, based on the book by her daughter. No-one else could verify that independently.

If you saw her in Mommy Dearest you would think so and it was supposed to be a true story according to her daughter.

Her children probably thought she was crazy. NO MORE WIRE HANGERS EVER!!!! Betty Davis probably did to. I never read or heard any official diagnosis of mental illness.

As a loon, and mean, too. And jealous of Bette Davis. She had good reason to be. Ha!
