Solo guitar lines in a song

It's really just a guitar solo between the bridge and the chorus before the end of the song, or the introduction. Usually it starts with the first version, and gets inverted into different variations throughout the song, but still sounds similar. The solo riff is the most prominent part of the music.

Guitar sounds that makes your ears bleed
especially in solos of a song (mostly rock n roll)
listen to Sweet Child O' Mine from Guns N Roses for example

"Riffs" are phrases or melodic lines in a song. When you hum the opening instrumental line, or the memorable part where people play "air guitar" in a tune "dah, dah de dah" - that's a riff. A whole solo, or melody can have a series of different riffs.

Hmm...basically, it's a piece of a (ocasionally) repetative guitar solo in a song....in a lot of the music I listen to, it's right after the verse after the 2nd chorus in a song....but basically, its a guitar solo thing....yah. hope this helped you...my dad's a guitarist....hope I answered your question.. :)

They are guitar notes that are played in succession that give you the basic rhythm of the song. If you listen to AC/DC, you'll know what I mean.
