Usually if you do not have a credit card you use PayPal. Some place take online checks. After the order they send you a confirmation email and once they mail it, basically however that company packages it is what you get. There is no standard they go by.

some companies will let you send a money order or check
(some even accept direct debit from your bank account)

or look into paypal,
thats a service which you link your checking account with
and then paypal will pay the merchant
then takes the money from your account
also some stores have in-store pick up
(office depot, Circuit city) where you can pay for when you
arrive at the store)
if you send the company a check or money order
once they received it they will send it to you

of course they wont send until they have gotten pai
very few stores do COD now)
(thats called collect on delivery)

Send an email to the seller asking if they will accept a money order, and where you should send it to. Whatever you order will be packed in a box and probably delivered by UPS.

If you send your information with your creditcard, they charge your credit card, if you dont use your credit card, depending who your buying from might accept checks or money orders. it comes in a box that they ship it in.

If you have a bank account you can use paypal http:/www.paypal.com/ You can make an account and buy things just like using a credit card and it will simply deduct the money from your bank account. (safer than it sounds)
