You don't have to find the CD, but if you're not good with fractions it would be the easiest way to do it. Multiply everything in the equation by 4 and you get 5x-2>4x-5, then solve for x. You get x>-3

5/4x-1/2>x-5/4
5/4x - x > 5/4 + 1/2
x/4 > (5 + 2)/4
x > 7
Solution: {x belongs to R | x > 7}
><>

5/4x-1/2>x-5/4
subtract x from both sides:
(x/4) -(1/2) > -5/4
add 1/2 to each side:
x/4 > -3/4
x> -3
