okay, i am trying to learn how to crochet. i can make a crochet chain and that is about it, how to i extend it?

http://crochet.about.com has some very good basic instructions for beginners. There is a link on the left of that says "Learn to crochet" or something like that. There are also lots of free patterns on that site. Good Luck!

my favorite how to crochet book is stitch n b*itch the happy hooker by debbie stoller. it has good pics and instructions plus lots of cool patterns. hope this helps.
also www.lionbreand.com has some good instructions you have to register but its free

You can find numerous books about this at the library or on line. You can also try to make your own designs and techniques.
